For the Vintage Tea Party, I made two yummy beverages (other than tea, of course).
We made spa water and strawberry lemonade. I invented the recipe for both, so I thought I’d post them here!
Note: I used organic strawberries and lemons for these recipes, which I think enhanced the flavor. You may have different results if you use conventional produce.
- 2 quarts filtered water
- 5 strawberries
- 1 lemon
- Airtight pitcher
Cut the lemon into thin circles. Cut the strawberries into thin slices. Drop them into the water. Store the water in the fridge overnight in an airtight pitcher.
Serve with ice or alone. If you want to add other fruits you can, I just happened to have these left over from the lemonade, so that is what I used.
- 1 cup sugar
- 8 lemons
- Filtered water
- 10 strawberries
- Airtight picture or other container
Mix 1 cup of sugar in about 2 cups of water in a pot over the stove. Heat the sugar water until the sugar completely dissolves.
While the water is heating, juice 8 lemons.
Add the sugar water to the lemon juice and stir. Add 1 1/2 quarts of water a 1/2 quart at a time. Test the flavor along the way. I ended up having to add a little more water to tone down the tartness of my lemons. The kind of lemons that you have will determine how much additional water (or even lemons) to add.
Cut the strawberries into thin slices. Drop them into the lemonade. Store the lemonade in an airtight container overnight.
Serve chilled with ice, or alone.
If you make these recipes, let me know how they turn out, or share your favorite flavored water and lemonade recipes below!
