I love teaching kids during the early years because there are so many adorable ways to teach them the basics. Once kids enter middle school, like my eldest, their school is so much less interesting. But my preschooler is at the perfect age for alphabet crafts and other fun learning activities.
She had a blast making this D is for dog alphabet craft and completing the corresponding activities that I made for her.

D is for Dog Letter Craft
Kids will love transforming this letter D into this delightful dog!
What you’ll need to make the D is for dog alphabet craft:
- Letter D template
- Glue sticks
- Scissors
- Googly eyes
- Construction paper
- Marker
If you have a lot of students that you’re making these for, you’ll want to cut out the ears, tongue, spots, nose, and D bodies in advance. I printed the letter D onto grey paper and cut it out with scissors. You can cut about six Ds out at once.
Use the picture below as a guide for what each dog will need. Put everything into a zip lock baggie so that you can just give one to each kid and go.
When it’s time to craft, give the kids a glue stick and two googly eyes and let them put their dogs together. Let the kids use their imagination for where to put their dog’s spots.
My preschooler was delighted with how her letter D transformed into a happy dog!
