Middle schoolers are overgrown kids who just want to have a fun time in the classroom. You can fulfil their dreams and wishes with these exciting Easter science projects for middle school!

We like to use Peeps a lot in our Easter science experiments, so you’ll see a lot of Peeps experiments, but we also have science projects with plants, chemical reactions, explosions, and molecular bonds.

Middle school STEM activities can still be full of hands-on science fun that helps kids love science while also providing the actual learning they need to pass their big end-of-year exams.

Tips for Making Science Fun in Middle School

Middle school is high school lite. Things start to get harder, but they don’t mean as much as they do in high school. Middle schoolers are there to learn more advanced subjects, sure, but they are also there to learn how to manage their time, belongings, schedules, and a more difficult course load.

In middle school, kids go from the hands-on teaching style of elementary school to the almost completely autonomous approach of high school.

I happen to love doing science with middle schoolers, because it’s the first time kids can really take ownership of their projects.

You don’t have to worry as much about the safety of the projects, so you can do things like make burning ice and work with chemicals that might stain clothing or be unsafe for younger kids to use.

Middle school is also an exciting time where kids start learning how to really think on their own and organize their thoughts in a thoughtful, efficient manner.

This means that science experiments start to really mean something, and they are finally able to put the entire scientific method in practice.

But, middle school kids are also young enough to still want to have fun in the classroom.

So, it’s really the golden hour for hands-on science.

While high school kids might not want to do Easter science, middle schoolers will love using Easter themes in the science classroom.

Keep things fun in the middle school science classroom by bringing in fun topics, themes, and challenges that interest middle schoolers (like Fortnite STEAM activities!).
