When we saw these adorable Peeps bunny candy molds, I knew we had to try and make Peeps soap! Making soap is a favorite Easter STEM activity!

Easter is one of our favorite holidays. We love everything about eggs, bunnies, candy, and of course Peeps!

We have a whole series of Peeps STEM activities that we’ve done, and we love coming up with fun things to do with Peeps, like making Peeps playdough!

Making soap is actually a pretty cool STEM activity! How?

It’s all in the way soap comes together.

Soap-making includes a lot of scientific concepts, like chemical reactions, dissolving, solutions, and precise ratios.

When making soap, if you don’t follow the recipe exactly, your soap will turn into a disaster!

And soap-making itself requires a lot of math and technology to form it right.

This particular Peeps soap recipe uses a kid-safe pre-made soap block, but for middle schoolers, they will get bigger STEM benefits by making a true soap recipe that requires safety equipment and traditional soap ingredients such as lye.

How to Make Peeps Soap

Before starting this project, make sure your Peeps mold is clean and dry.

Put your soap into a microwave-safe container. You can also melt the soap on the stove. Heat 30 seconds at a time, stirring between sessions, until the soap is completely melted.

Pour your soap into the molds. Gently tap the mold to remove excess air bubbles.
Spray a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol onto each of the soaps to remove air bubbles from the surface of the soap.
Let your soap sit out overnight on a completely flat surface.

The next morning, pop out your Peeps bunnies and place them in plastic treat bags. These would make adorable Easter basket gifts! You can even include them in a science Easter basket, because soap is the product of a chemical reaction!
