What is the Science of Slime?
Slime works because of a chemical reaction that causes the molecule stands in the glue to link together like a chain. These chains are called “polymer chains.” The addition of the chemicals in the laundry starch cause the chemical shift in plastic.
On a different scale, the same chemical process used to make slime is also used to make flexible plastic baggies.

How to Make Multicolor Slime
This recipe for multicolor slime is so easy! Just 3 ingredients and you’ll be mixing and playing with brightly colored slime in no time!
Here’s how you make it:
First, mix your glue and color in individual bowls. I like to use clear glue with brightly colored slime because the color shines through much better and there isn’t any white to dilute the colors.
I usually make 1/2 cup batches of slime at a time, but you can make smaller or larger batches depending on how you’re feeling.
Mix 1/2 cup of glue with your chosen color. Then, add 1/4 cup of liquid laundry starch and stir.
If that doesn’t make the slime stretchy and remove stickiness, then you probably need to add more laundry starch.
Keep adding starch until the slime no longer sticks to your hands. Sometimes you have to knead the slime for up to five minutes before it is the right texture.

Slime mixes colors really quickly, so you won’t want to mix all of your colors at once.
Just pick out small chunks to mix together so your multicolor slime lasts longer.
Eventually, your colors will all mix together and you’ll be left with something likely purple or brown. Most multicolor slime will turn into these colors when mixed.
But that’s OK, the slime is still good, it’s just now a uniform color. Because slime mixes so quickly, you can use it to teach color mixing theory to the kids along with a lesson in polymer chains and chemical bonds!
You can store your slime in an airtight container for a week or more. If it starts to get sticky, just add a bit more slime activator/laundry starch to it and it will spring back to life.
