Slime is made when boron mixes with the polymer chains in the glue, creating strong, but flexible bonds between the molecules. There are so many fun tweaks you can make to a basic slime recipe, like my kid’s favorite, fluffy slime!
Since this slime does contain borax, if you have a sensitivity to it, you may want to try our baking soda slime instead.

If this is your first time making slime, you should follow along with our post on slime troubleshooting. Luckily, liquid laundry starch slime made with Elmer’s glue is the easiest slime recipe.
If you don’t want to waste a lot of ingredients, try mixing up a small batch first to make sure you won’t have to tweak it before you make the larger version.
We always stock up on gallon sizes of glue and the large laundry starch just in case something goes wrong (but it almost always goes smoothly).

Unicorn Poop Slime Instructions

Here’s how you can make your unicorn poop slime a success.

Follow along with our liquid laundry starch slime to get the ratios for this slime. We usually use one part glue, one part starch, and half a part water for our slime recipes.

After adding the coloring and glue, add the starch and stir.

Stir with a fork until you can’t stir any longer.
Let the slime sit for about 5 minutes.
Take out each color of slime and work it together with your hands to remove any remaining stickiness.

Stretch out the slime one at a time and arrange them in a rainbow pattern on a flat surface (a table or tray works great)
Twist the rainbow like you’re planning to make bagels out of it.

Swirl the swirl into a poop-like pattern.
You’re done!

Unicorn poop slime has been created.
If you don’t want the colors to mix too quickly, don’t form the slime into the poop shape until you’ve played with the rainbow a little while.

My kids loved placing their unicorn toys in the slime to play, although the implications of that are pretty gross, so don’t think about it too much.
