What is it about spring and Easter that is so exciting? There is so much fun science to learn during spring with the weather, life cycles, animal science, and a lot more! This Easter, try these fun Easter science activities for elementary students!
And if you need even more ideas, try our Easter science experiments for kindergarten, Easter science projects for middle school, and Easter STEM activities!
Tips on Making Easter Science Work in the Elementary Classroom
When you have a group of 20 or more students, doing hands-on science can get chaotic. However, there are some strategies you can employ that will make things easier.
First, divide kids into groups of 4-5. Get a set of materials for each group and let them conduct their own experiments.
If the experiments are too expensive or too dangerous for kids to do alone, you can conduct a science demonstration to illustrate a concept.
Once the demonstration is complete, the elementary kids can record the data on a STEM or science worksheet.
During Easter, kids will love working with the themes of Easter to complete their activities.
We particularly like doing science experiments with Peeps, so you’ll see a lot of our resources using Peeps.
But you can also do experiments with real eggs!
What You Need for Easter Science Activities:
If you’re ready to dive into fun easter science experiments, then you’ll need a few things. We like to do a lot of science experiments with Peeps, so you’ll need a lot of those!
You can also use other traditional Easter themes, like eggs, flowers, candy, and plants.
In addition to Easter supplies, we like to keep some science kids and supplies on hand all the time to make science easier. These are some of our favorite supplies:

Why Do Easter Science Experiments?
You don’t have to make science seasonal, but here’s why I love to do it.
Kids love learning hands-on and using the things they see around them to learn more about the world.
While kids will definitely remember hands-on science experiments, they may not always remember things they read about in a textbook.
But even though most kids enjoy hands-on science once they try it, some kids may not even realize how fun science can be!
For these kids, seasonal science can act as a super fun bridge to creating a love of science by introducing it using seasonal themes that they are already excited about.
What’s more fun than trying Peeps science experiments or creating a “magic” silver egg?
These seasonal activities will stick with kids for years to come and help them foster a love of science that may last them into adulthood!
Fun Easter Science Experiments for Elementary
Sometimes it’s fun to take a break from NGSS science experiments and try something just for fun in the classroom!
These elementary Easter science experiments are perfect for kids in elementary school, and they work just as well in the classroom as at home.
If you’re doing these activities in the classroom, dividing the kids into groups help contains the mess and chaos of hands-on science experiments.
Elementary kids always enjoy the Rubber Rainbow Naked Eggs experiment.
Salt Crystal Easter Eggs are a fun way to teach elementary kids about salt crystals, crystal formation, and ionic bonds.
Fluffy Rainbow Slime is always a favorite with elementary kids, and the fluffy texture is low-mess which makes it ideal for the classroom.
Make Chick Slime as a fun STEAM project to take home!
Make an Easter Lava Lamp and learn about chemical reactions.
Eggshell Gardens teach kids about plant growth and seed germination.
Try the Silver Egg Experiment and learn about light refraction.
Elementary kids will love making Edible Jellybean Slime.
Fizzing Easter Eggs are a fun way to explore chemical reactions safely in the classroom.
Elementary kids will love making their own Peeps Playdough.
Fluffy Bunny Slime is a fun way to learn about bunny tails and chemical bonds.
Try the Peeps Boat Engineering challenge and see what fun boat designs kids can make!
Explore surface tension in the Peeps Soap-Powered Boat experiment.
