Why do Fairy Tale STEM Activities?
Some kids really take to fairy tales, while others don’t. My oldest daughter wanted nothing to do with fairytales, so just doing classic science fair projects with her was enough.
My middle daughter, however, is a lot more into fairytales and fantasy stories. So for her, she sometimes needs that story hook to be interested in STEM activities.
She loves STEM, and she loves quick STEM activities, but she’s not as interested in the why behind the experiment. She likes the flash and the activity, but for her to get interested in the why, she needs a reason.
So, applying these storybook STEM activities to fairytale stories is perfect for her. She wants to help out the characters, and so using these themes helps her understand the science and STEM lessons behind the science demonstrations.
And, she’s definitely not the only child that needs a bit of story motivation!
